Description

...a little after that"
is the final title for the digital pieces and the animation was called "it was all a little awkward and also awful"

the two long ones by themselves over there are on the opposite wall so the lighting wouldn't interfere with the projection.

So, this is the final install of the digital outputs.
the show looks better than the photos say, but the animations are on loop for __ seconds long (each one cuts off at the point that I get bored of watching them).
I think it goes: panting guy, beardo, nose, punch, dead guy, crying girl

Artist's Statement
(this bio was changed before they printed it, but here is the one I typed)
I am a Chattanooga native. I grew up drawing really bad comics and fantasizing about one day working for MTV or Cartoon Network but never Nickelodeon. I am a senior Painting and Drawing student and work with Thom Shaw at the Three Dogs Gallery and with Daniel Wroe in a collaborative experiment called Michigan.

These digital paintings were developed to deconstruct figurative narrative. Each illustration attempts to show a story with the body language and the facial expressions but without the proper context it is like watching the trailer for a movie. The use of theatrical staging, underlying tension and interpersonal conflict create the illusion of a cohesive story, but one which is incomplete, like a film with the key frames edited out. The repetition of characters create more complex relationships and leaves room for interpretation such as: Who is the antagonist? Protagonist? Love interest? There are no right or wrong answers.

Digital media is normally associated with design and illustrations commissioned for magazines and other media sources. This association, coupled with the influence of storyboards and graphic novels make the loose narrative and character relations even more apparent. None of the events are meant to be true. They are each experimental situations with no assigned content other than what the viewer brings to them.

So wait, those canvas' aren't really painted on? That looks pretty awesome :)

They don't even look like prints to be honest, it looks like a painting, but then again the pics aren't close ups ;D
