"we knew where this was going but never felt inclined to stop it"

These paintings were developed to deconstruct figurative narrative. Each panel seems to try to show a story, but the subtle emotions and body language hinder any true interpretations. The use of theatrical staging and indefinable tension help the illusion of a cohesive story line, but when nothing is happening it stunts any further development beyond guesses.

The paintings and the layout itself are both literal translations of breaking down narrative. By using uneven spacing between them and the different media, it is further disconnected with little to no continual flow which makes each composition hold its own conversations with the viewer. The text, another element of traditional storytelling, adds more uncertainty as its vague message cannot be deciphered through the vacant and self-conscious characters, though their obvious inactivity does echo its apathetic tone.
